When ever someone registers on a Joomla website an email notification will be triggered for anyone that has their account set to "Receive System Email".

This is really useful for when you want to know people are registering on your website. It will let you know when potential sales are coming in or when users are interacting with your website. It is also a good first initial point of entry for collecting user data as well for what ever you are trying to do or market.

Within Joomla you can turn this on or off depending on the administrators preference per user account.

That is, some users can have the notifications while others don't have it if they don't need it.

To turn it on or of, navigate to

  • Users->User Manager

This will give you a list of all the users on your website. You may need to use the filters to find the particular user that you want to modify.

Once you have found the user, click on their name.

On the account details tab, you will see the "Receive System Email" option that can be switched between Yes or No.

Choose the option that you desire and click SAVE and Close to exit the screen.
